FCA HISTORY

PHILOSOPHY OF EDUCATION

There are three guiding fundamental principles upon which Fellowship Christian Academy has built its philosophy of Christian education. The first is that true knowledge is possible only as we recognize the God of truth. We cannot separate God, Who is the Creator and Sustainer of all life, from history, literature, mathematics, science, language, the arts, or any other academic discipline. The entire range and content of education must be centered on God and His Word in order for students to develop a working biblical worldview (Proverbs 1:7; Romans 1:8-23). The second principle is that the primary purpose of man is to glorify God and to enjoy Him forever (Psalm 73:25-28; 1 Corinthians 10:31). God has graciously given man the ability to explore, investigate, and discover truths about the world God has made. Therefore, it is the duty of every Christian educator to strive to develop the students’ God-given capacities so that they may be used for His glory.
The third principle is that God has given the responsibility of a child’s education to parents/guardians who are instructed to bring up their children in the nurture and admonition of the Lord (Deuteronomy 6:4-7; Ephesians 6:4). The Academy exists to assist parents/guardians with this God ordained responsibility. It is proper for parents/guardians to associate themselves with other Christians, through a Christian school, who are equipped with the gift of teaching.

FCA SCHOOL WAS ESTABLISHED 1979-2019

41 YEARS OF EXCELLENT TEACHING

HISTORY

Fellowship Christian Academy began operating in 1979. In 1978, the Elders of Fellowship Bible Church presented the concept of a Christian school to the membership of the church. After several months of prayer, convinced of the Lord’s leading, the membership approved the formation of Fellowship Bible School. In 1990, the name of the school was changed to Fellowship Christian Academy. The school began with 159 students in grades K4 through 8. Each year a grade was added until the school reached its full roster of students in Grades K4-12.

PURPOSE AND OBJECTIVES

Fellowship Christian Academy was founded in 1979 in order to assist the families of our church who wanted to educate their children in a Christian environment. Since its inception the Academy has done just that by providing students with an academic program that weaves the creative majesty and power of God into the everyday teaching process. What makes this possible is the quality of the people who work here.

The Academy not only helps to prepare students for college but also gives them the biblical foundation needed to establish their testimony for Jesus Christ in the world. This academic and spiritual training begins in K4 and continues until graduation from high school. The earnest longing of our staff is to help the students succeed both in their career goals and their walk with God. Most of FCA’s graduates have furthered their education at either Christian or secular colleges or universities. Some of them are now serving in Christian ministries and some hold professional positions.

FCA TESTIMONIALS

Liz Harvey

There is a huge difference between FCA and other schools where the authority of the parent is not respected. I feel at FCA, the teachers and the parents are on the same team working together to build up your child in strong Christian moral character as well as a student.

The best thing in my opinion about Fellowship Christian Academy is how everyone is so close.  For me, my class is like a second family. Maybe it’s somewhat from the fact that it’s a small school, but I know it’s mainly from the great Christian education, attitudes, and overall atmosphere.  Eva - grade 8

Students learn that they have value - not because someone plays with them or isn’t mean to them, but because their  Creator created them and their Creator wants to have a relationship with them because HE loves them. Knowing you have value beyond this world’s definition of value and are loved by God can carry one through life’s darkest moments.
We have been so pleased with the kids' school over these last 4 years. I volunteer in the morning before school starts, and I am always amazed and grateful to see how kind and well-behaved the kids are with their friends and how respectful they are with their teachers. Every single teacher with whom I have interacted - and I have kids in the kindergarten, elementary, middle school and high school - demonstrates a real interest in each child - an interest in each child succeeding as caring, responsible and civic minded adults, but most of all an interest in making sure each child knows that they are here by God's perfect plan and that they can always rest in Him, knowing that when the rest of the world doesn't seem to care, their Creator loves them!

During all the events I have been to, godly standards  and excellence are visible. Every musical... concert... program is filled with much talent as well as  much of the Word. The spiritual aspect isn’t compartmentalized, but rather permeates every facet at FCA. It’s not just what we “do”... it’s who we “are!

When my daughter started school this past fall, I was so nervous she would have a hard time adjusting. She had just turned 4 a few weeks earlier so to say she had major separation anxiety would be an understatement. I had never anticipated her transition into school for the very first time would be such a breeze but thanks to the staff & students at FCA, it was. They have been nothing short of amazing. My daughter has had so much positive growth; academically, personally & spiritually since the fall and I’m so thankful to FCA for fostering such a safe, supportive & welcoming environment that allows her to do so.

Graduated 1994 - last graduating class in North Andover. Our graduating class gift was the Rams banner that hangs in the gym over the stage. I currently live in Plaistow, NH. I am a a secretary at Marsh Corner Community Church where my family also attends. Married in 2000 and my 2 girls now attend FCA. I still play my violin in my church worship team. As an alumni of FCA, it wasn't until after I graduated that I fully realized and appreciated the quality of education I received. I have fond memories of teachers from my elementary through high school years. They truly cared for their students and worked us to our best abilities. This is part of the reason my husband and I made the decision to send our daughters to FCA. The teachers may not be the same ones from my school years (except for one) but the values of passion for education, love of God and love for students is still the same.

Tracy Boutrus

My name is Tracy Boutrus and I graduated from FCA in 2004.  I studied nursing at UMass Lowell and have been working as an ICU and ER nurse in NH.  In addition, God has provided the opportunity to use nursing to serve Him in missions.   I'm thankful that He has allowed me to travel with Grace Dental and Medical Missions to several different countries (in Africa, the Middle East, and the islands of the Philippines and Micronesia) to assist with mobile clinics that are held with the purpose of reaching those who come with the gospel.

These trips have meant some interesting new experiences like trying fried worms and caterpillars for the first time, travelling down bumpy dirt roads or by small boat or 4-seater plane.  They've meant visiting with those who are sick  and their families, sometimes on the dirt floor of tiny one-room homes as testimonies are shared and the gospel is presented. There's the joy of worshipping together with believers in different parts of the globe, and seeing some at the clinics make professions of faith.  I'm thankful for the opportunity to see just a tiny glimpse of what God is doing in some of these places.  I'm also thankful for the education I received at FCA and the emphasis on God's word.  Looking back I can see how God used my time at FCA to help shape me, and prepare me for what He has for me.
