FCA’s 2019 Senior Class journeyed down south for their senior trip. After a day in Atlanta, we spent the morning at Source of Light in Madison, GA. Started in 1943, Source of Light now reaches five continents with thirty-seven branches. Their mission is to share the Gospel and disciple children and adults through Bible correspondence courses. Our day began with a tour of the offices and printing shop. Students were intrigued to learn about the volume of literature printed and mailed in addition to some of the unique methods to share Word of God. One of the most unique methods is the “balloon” printed with the gospel of Mark that workers in South Korea inflate and float to North Korea. Also, students learned about the braille printing process and the value of making affordable, printed material available for the blind.

After the tour, students and chaperones worked in the discipleship department. We stamped booklets, collated labels, and prepared packets for mailing. Since Source of Light mails over 300 packets a week, our help alleviated their workload. It was a nice opportunity to get to know some retired missionaries and visit with Char Mattocks (a missionary supported by FBC for over forty years). Not only was it enjoyable to help the workers at Source of Light, but it is also a blessing to know that we had a small part in God’s Word being shared throughout the world.
